VISUAL MAJIK

magic made by hand and revealed through sight

Visual Majik is a fusion of keen visual perception, steady hands, and disciplined craftsmanship within the realms of fine art, barbering and tattooing.

The Crafts

Visual Majik was born from a deep desire to create and serve others. It all started with a fascination with the fine arts at a young age. While living in Jamaica at the of age 8, my art teacher, a street portrait artist with long dreadlocks and a kind smile, saw something in my drawings and told me that I had a gift. His art fascinated me and his message motivated me to continue drawing as I developed.

At age 13 I asked for some clippers for Christmas because I was tired of getting botched haircuts. I used them to cut my own hair along with my brothers and school friends. The craft felt natural to me since I had been drawing for sometime and therefore understood how to differentiate values well on paper. I kept cutting until I began to master the craft after about 5 years of practice.

At age 18 while in college I would cut hair in my apartment to keep the lights on and during one of these appointments my best friend said to me “you know, you would probably be good at tattooing.” After thinking about it for a while, I decided he could be right and I bought my first rotary tattooing machine and started practicing. It wasn’t long until I realized that my creative spirit and these crafts granted me more fulfillment than any college degree or job ever could. Therefore I decided to bet on myself and pursue these creative crafts for better or worse.

Visual Majik represents the culmination of the skills that I have developed over time in the realms of fine art, barbering, and tattooing. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to create magic with my hands for the eyes of those around me in this life. I’m even more grateful for all the souls that impacted me along my journey in the past and for those that continue to support me to this day. For them, I will continue to refine my skills and share my art with the world for years to come.

The Hands Behind the Work

My Name is Keefe Josiah McDonald, the artist behind Visual Majik. My passion for creating art began at a very young age. The earliest thing I remember drawing is a portrait of sponge bob in 3rd grade. Over the years I’ve experimented with different mediums, and I would always find myself amazed at what I could accomplish through my creativity. Though, it wasn’t until my early adolescence that I realized that art fills my cup in a way that nothing else can. This is when I began truly pursuing art as a career instead of just a hobby. Now, I’m grateful to be able to create works of art for others to experience and cherish.
